“Nihonshu” in Japanese, is the emblematic alcoholic beverage in the country of the rising sun. Sake is produced from the fermentation of rice and contains about 15% of alcohol. Japanese sake is a refined drink, to be enjoyed fresh or sometimes heated, as an aperitif or during the meal. It accompanies Japanese food, of course, but also goes perfectly with modern Western cuisine, and becomes a very interesting component when used in sake based cocktails.
