Named after a sea beast of myth and legend, The Kraken is a unique Caribbean black spiced rum. Enriched with exotic spice notes of ginger, cinnamon and clove, The Kraken Rum is distilled in Trinidad and Tobago. The rich black color takes its hue from the mysterious ink with which, as legend has it, The Kraken, a squid of epic proportions, covered its prey.

TASTING NOTES:

Colour:?Black like molasses, or squid ink, if you must.
Aroma:?Heavy chocolate up front with coffee and cinnamon.
Palate:?Chocolate sweetness, molasses and vanilla mingle with spices commonly associated with Rum; clove, cinnamon, ginger and galangal.
Finish:?Slightly warming with a big punch of vanilla, a touch of coffee and a hint of pepper.

The Kraken Rum; a rum as dark and strong as the sea-monster

Kraken Rum is made from a blend of 11 different spices, including cinnamon, ginger, allspice, and cloves. The rum has a distinctively smooth aroma of chocolate and molasses, complemented beautifully by the combination of spices. Kraken Rum is black in colour like squid ink and is made to be as strong as the Kraken monster itself. The distinctive bottle with its two round handles is a replica of a Victorian-style rum bottle. Traditionally these handles were used to hang rum bottles on the wall during choppy sea voyage. Each bottle you buy is also adorned with a drawing of the Kraken as a reminder and warning to drinkers of the size and horror of this long tentacled beast.

The Kraken Rum can be sipped, mixed or shaken

This rum should be drunk with respect in honour of the Kraken and of the sea which it inhabits. It can be enjoyed on its own as a sipping rum but also goes great in mixed drinks and cocktails. Try The Kraken Rum with ginger beer, cola, or root beer for a tasty, spicy long drink. Alternatively muddle mint leaves and sugar then add Kraken Rum and soda water for a Black Mojito unlike any other.
